West Valley Genealogical Society hosts annual open house

The West Valley Genealogical Society hosts its annual open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the WVGS library, 12222 N.111th Ave., Youngtown.

Everyone’s invited to attend and learn about genealogical classes, special interest groups, the computer lab, monthly membership meetings, an annual seminar, extensive obituary collection and annual research trips to Washington, D.C., and Salt Lake City. Representatives from assorted lineage groups will be in attendance to answer questions about their national organizations and local chapters.

WVGS membership includes library access to several genealogy databases: Ancestry, MyHeritage, New England Historic Genealogical Society and World Vital Records.

WVGS is now an official Family Search Affiliate, which allows members library access to additional Family Search records that would not be available to the general public.

At the open house, a 20-minute guided tour will be conducted of the WVGS non-circulating library of books, films, CDs, periodicals and maps. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with volunteers and learn about membership.

Call 623-933-4945 for more information or check out the WVGS website at www.azwvgs.org.

The WVGS is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The West Valley Genealogical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
