Final week of regular season football results

GLENDALE CARDINALS 57, DYSART DEMONS 6 – Glendale used six rushing touchdowns, four by Kevin Daniels and two by Andre Neal, as the Cardinals dominated for a 57-6 victory over Dysart at Dysart High School.

Glendale, after missing the playoffs last season’s 8-2 record, won the most games since the 1980 undefeated season. Glendale (9-1) qualified No. 12 and travels to No. 5 Tucson Sahuaro (8-2) in the first round 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Sahuaro High School.

 

SUNNYSLOPE VICKINGS 14, APOLLO HAWKS 7 – Sunnyslope quarterback Niko Haen threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings held off a late push by the Hawks for a 14-7 victory at Apollo High School.

With the game tied at seven, Haen drove the Vikings down the field in the final two minutes, connecting with Spencer Hochstein on a short touchdown pass to secure the victory.

Apollo ends the season 3-7, while Sunnyslope (5-5) travels to Peoria Centennial (10-0) in a first round 5A playoff game 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Centennial High School.

 

MILLENNIUM TIGERS 55, INDEPENDENCE PATRIOTS 0 – Millennium scored 42 first quarter points in cruising to a 55-0 victory over Independence at Independence High School.

Millennium's Zareq Brown opened the scoring with touchdown passes to Jared Mendenhall (20-yards) and Jaelon Taylor (27 yards) in the first three minutes of the game. Kaysan Barnett scored rushing touchdowns of 41 and 47 yards, Isaac Oliver scored rushing touchdowns of 2 and 45 yards and Kaysan Barnett returned two interceptions, one of 41-yards and one of 47-yards, as Millennium scored all their points in the first 19 minutes of the game.

Independence ends the season 3-7 while Millennium (8-2) advances to host Tucson Flowing Wells (8-2) 7 p.m. Nov. 2 in the first round of the 5A playoffs.

 

O'CONNOR EAGLES 54, MOUNTAIN RIDGE MOUNTAIN LIONS 8 – Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor used a dominating offense, pounding out 535 total yards in cursing to a 54-8 season ending victory at Sandra Day O’Connor High School.

Quarterback Ethan Moller threw for 254-yards and four touchdowns, two to Damon Ortiz and one each to Evan Barnes and Daymon Stewart. Donavin Fontaine and Donny Esponilla each had two rushing touchdowns for the Eagles in the victory. 

The Mountain Lions (0-10) winless season is only the second time the team has not won a game, the first being the school’s first season of varsity play in 1996. O'Connor finished the season 4-6.

 

IRONWOOD EAGLES 54, KELLIS COUGARS 6 – Ironwood quarterback William Haskell accounted for five touchdowns as the Eagles cruised to a 54-6 victory over Kellis at Kellis High School.

Haskell connected on 7 of 9 passes for 222-yards and two touchdown passes to Elijah Sanders. Haskell also rushed for 75-yards and 3 touchdowns as the Eagles scored 50 or more points for the third time this season.

Sanders caught three passes for 173-yards and Nate Guzman had three catches for 48-yards while Devante Wimbish rushed 11 times for 131-yards for the Eagles.

Ironwood ends the season 6-4 while Kellis ends the season 0-10.
